Hi,
I'm wondering why Milan is supporting the AAF Format only and not also the AM824 Format that seems to be common for most AVB Devices out there today?
thx for reply

Hello toto,
The decision to adopt AAF was made for two major reasons. The first reason is efficiency, with all things being equal AAF is capable of sending more channels of audio over a given amount of bandwidth. The second reason has to do with the difficulty of implementing the packetization/depacketization structure that AM824 requires. One of the major goals of Milan was to lower the barrier to entry for new AVB devices.
AM824( 1GigE, 75%BW Alloc, Format AM824 non blocking, 48kHz, 32Bit, 8Channel): 312 Channels per link.
AAF( 1GigE, 75%BW Alloc, Format AAF, 48kHz, 32Bit, 8Channel): 360 Channels per link.
